Kaiser and the Community
Community Benefit ReportKaiser Permanente proudly directed more than $1 billion to support Community Benefit programs and services through research, community partnerships, and direct health coverage for low-income individuals and families. Our Charitable Coverage program provided a medical home to nearly 90,000 low-income individuals. Our Healthy Eating/Active Living (HEAL) initiatives are now at work in 27 communities across our regions. 2007 was a year of milestones in our research and policy work as well. Among the nearly 1,500 studies Kaiser Permanente investigators were involved in, we launched one of the largest research projects in the world to examine the genetic, environmental, and behavioral factors influencing health—the Research Program on Genes, Environment, and Health.
