BioGrowing up in Palo Alto, I spent several summers in Mexico and a year in Arequipa, Peru. Along with learning some Spanish I gained a lasting appreciation for Hispanic culture and people. After high school I left for Boston to attend Harvard College. I knew I ultimately wanted to return to California, and spending four years in Cleveland for medical school helped confirm that! | |

More details about my specialty:In 198, I began working for Kaiser, attracted by the emphasis on patient care and prevention. My exposure to private practice in LA had convinced me I did not want to spend my career worrying about reimbursement and paperwork. The subsequent and ongoing changes in health care have confirmed I made the right choice. |

| We try to do at least one backpacking trip every summer. We started doing this when my oldest child was 6 months old. Now that he can run circles around me while carrying the heaviest pack, it's gotten a little easier! Our trip from Mammoth Lakes to Tuolumne Meadows was especially spectacular. One summer we visited Yellowstone National Park, encountering grizzly's, wolves, and of course innumerable bison and elk. I would love to go back and spend a whole summer exploring the park. |

People in my life:Outside the hospital, I spend time with family and friends doing a variety of outdoor activities. We enjoy being on the water on one of my husband’s numerous homemade water craft, as well as backpacking, skiing and bicycling. We are lucky to live in a beautiful area and I try to enjoy it as much as possible. |

An adventure I've had:We spend part of every summer in New England, visiting family and friends. If it weren't for the bugs and the nine-month winter, I'm convinced Maine would be the most populous state in the US. But thank goodness for the greenheads and black flies! We divide our time between Boston, the White Mountain/Lake district, and Penobscot Bay. It's all great, but we especially love the coast. |
