| ANRED will be 30 years old in 2009. Those of us who were in our 30s, 40s and 50s in 1979 are now in our 60s, 70s and 80s, and we are very tired.
When we founded ANRED, people were asking for detailed information about eating disorders, and they wanted advice about recovery and treatment referrals. There were only two other advocacy groups in the U.S. at that time. Good information and support services were hard to find. Now there are dozens of local and regional groups, two national organizations and hundreds of websites that provide information and assistance. We have fulfilled our mission and can now retire, leaving the field to the next generation of advocates. The ANRED website has received many awards and much positive feedback from clinicians and the general public, but since we will no longer be able to update it, or respond to questions and comments, it is now appropriate to take it down. If you need general information, referrals, advice or other kinds of support, we suggest you contact the following organizations.
We are grateful for all the help, encouragement and positive feedback we have received through the years. Best wishes to all of you, wherever you are on the path to health and happiness. ANRED staff |
