BioI was born in Plainfield, New Jersey back in 1953. I lived with my parents and older brother in a middle class suburb about 45 minutes from New York City. My hometown was a pretty nice place to grow up, spending time with my friends playing baseball, bowling, fishing and going to movies. I still see several of these friends now (over 40 years later). Elementary and high schools were in the public school system. | |
My Medical Specialty | |
More details about my specialty:In medical school you need to finalize what type of doctor you want to be. Initially, I could tell that I wanted to do surgery because I liked working with my hands and building things. It wasn't until I rotated through the different surgical specialties that I realized orthopedics was for me. I like the immediate results that you get when someone with a crooked arm leaves the emergency room with his or her arm straight in a cast and is on his or her way to recovery. For the most part the orthopedic patients are healthy and recover with happy endings to their ailments. My specialty interests and affiliations within my field:Within orthopedics, I have stayed fairly general, seeing patients from one day old to one hundred years old and caring for their hands, arms, shoulders, legs and hips. Current projects or research:Currently I am the "Quality" liaison which keeps me involved with the quality and performance improvement for our department. |

Over the years, I have had several interests that wax and wane. In high school I played golf on the team, but since then I've only played on a "hit or miss" basis. In college, I started playing the recorder (a musical instrument) which then led to my playing saxophone. As a matter of fact, early in my Kaiser career I played in a Kaiser Permanente band called "Tropical Heat." My brother works at a museum but also works part-time as a magician. Over the years he and his friends have taught me lots of magic tricks that I'll do periodically for friends or patients. About 10 years ago I started buying some sculptures from Zimbabwe. After collecting a few, I asked the gallery owner what techniques were used to make the sculptures. With his help, I started chiseling, filing, sanding and waxing my own. You can see some of mine at the link below. Go to "photo album" within the Agoldini.com website. |

Family & Friends | |
People in my life:I have been married for six years now and have two wonderful children; a four-year-old daughter and a twelve-year-old step-daughter. My wife grew up in Southern California and moved up here about 15 years ago. My children and people I care about:My four-year-old is a pleasure to be around (most of the time). Being so young, everything is new to her and everyday is filled with opportunities for me to teach and explore. |

My pets: At the present time we have a Maltese dog named Bogee, a Himalayan cat named Gizmo and a parakeet named Mimi. The cat and bird are easy to care for, but the Maltese is a bit more work. |

Travel | |
Favorite place in the world:Probably the most interesting trip I had was to Italy where I saw tons of old buildings and art work. It was after that trip that I couldn't resist the temptation to start sculpturing. One of my recent trips:Recently our family took a trip to Tahoe and I did something I had never done before. We went parasailing! I kept hoping that the rope wouldn't break. On that same trip we also did a little tubing and water skiing. |
