Description

These tasty bean burgers are a delicious alternative to meat. Great on the grill in the summertime!

Ingredients

  • 1⁄4 cup sunflower seeds, raw
  • 2 cup red or pink canned beans, unsalted
  • 1⁄2 cup onion, minced
  • 1⁄2 tsp chili powder
  • 2 tbsp ketchup, preferrably unsweetened
  • 1 tbsp wheat germ or oatmeal

Instructions

Chop the sunflower seeds in a food processor or hand chopper and mash the beans with a potato masher or food processor and mix together. Mix in the remaining ingredients and form the patties. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool until you can pick up each patty and compress it firmly in your hands to re-form the burger. Then cook for another 15 minutes on each side. If desired, these may be done on a grill.
