Services For Teens

Confidential Services: Privacy Guaranteed

Any issues we discuss during a confidential appointment with a doctor won't be shared with anyone. Confidentiality is our legal right and there are serious consequences for anyone who shares any private information without our consent. Check out the confidentiality laws for doctors. We can call Kaiser's confidential teen clinic anytime at (707) 486-8312.

Pediatrics

If you're under 18, you'll be seen by your pediatric doctor. You can also talk to a pediatric advice nurse 24 hours/7 days week who can tell you how to treat a minor injury or issue, and help you decide if you need to make an appointment. Confidential appointments are available.

Call if you're sick, need a sports physical, a sports certificate signed by your doctor, vaccinations for school or college, or if you need to talk to someone about a medical issue that's bothering you.

You can learn about safe sex practices, birth control methods, pregnancy, sexually transmitted disease prevention and treatment, and sexual orientation. Afternoon appointments are available weekly.

Health Education

A Clinical Health Educator is available to meet with you to discuss a wide variety of issues, including birth control, pregnancy counseling, STD's, weight management, psychiatric referrals, anxiety and stress, quitting smoking, and issues with drugs and alcohol. All appointments can be confidential.

Emergency Services

If you need immediate medical attention or find yourself in any kind of emergency situation, call 911 or go to the nearest hospital.

Some reasons to go to the Emergency department would be:

  • Uncontrollable bleeding
  • Uncontrollable pain
  • Suicidal thoughts or actions
  • Medication (legal or illegal) overdose
  • Severe alcohol intoxication
  • Rape — stranger, acquaintance, date

HIV/AIDS and STD Services

You can meet with someone to discuss HIV/AIDS, chlamydia, gonorrhea, herpes and other sexually transmitted diseases. They can answer your questions about STD prevention and treatment, arrange for a STD test, and prescribe any treatment you might need. This is a confidential service. The HIV Consult Team can be reached at (707) 393-4837.

Travel Nurse

Some countries require that you get vaccinations before entering their country. If you're planning to travel outside the United States, you can talk to a travel nurse who will give you tips about traveling safely, immunize you and make sure you have any medications you need while traveling. Call our advice nurse at (707) 393-4044 to arrange to speak with the travel nurse.

Laboratory

You can drop in to any Kaiser Santa Rosa laboratory and request an HIV/AIDS or pregnancy test. However, other lab tests may require a physician's referral. It is best to call before you drop by to check on the requirements for the test that you want to have done.

Pharmacy

You can drop in at any Kaiser pharmacy to buy over-the-counter medications or supplies, such as lotions, face wash, and band-aids.

You will need a physician's prescription for all other medications including Emergency Contraceptive Pills, also known as Plan B or the Morning After Pill. Call our advice nurse immediately at (707) 393-4033 and a prescription for ECPs will be made available for you to pick up.
